GENERAL INFORMATION

At Enter Hogwarts there are three semesters: Autumn (September – December) Spring (January to March) and Summer (April – July) and there are six classes: Defence Against the Dark Arts, Charms, Transfiguration, Herbology and History of Magic. Classes will take place on the boards and will be RP’d out in the usual format. There will be roughly seven lessons per term, one every two weeks with an exam in the final week.

REQUIREMENTS

Students: During each semester of school all students are required to take TWO of these classes so that by the end of the school year all six classes will have been completed. For example, if you choose to take DADA and Herbology in the first term, these two will not be available for you to take in the next two semesters. Just by signing up for a lesson you till win 5 points for your house.

It is required that all students present in the class take part in the RP’d lessons on the boards, if you don’t post in a lesson it will affect your overall grade. This is extremely important during the final exam. For every class you RP in you will recieve 2 house points.

Students will have a week to complete their homework assignments by posting on the Homework threads at least once (check the calendar for dates homework is to be given out and due in) It may be tempting to not join in with the thread but remember, the more you post the higher grade you'll get over all.

If you are a new student and join halfway through a semester you can still join in the fun. You’ll be able to join classes up until the last week of term. Don’t worry about having missed the other classes, the teachers are only required to grade you from the date you joined their class.

Teachers: Teachers are required to start a lesson thread on their board every two weeks. Lessons should be posted on a Monday and homework should be given out the following Monday (check the calendar for exact dates). The students will then have a week to turn it in.

Teachers should have a thread on their boards called ‘Grades’ where students can go and check their progress in the class. This should be used to record attendance in class and completed homework assignments. You can record this however you like, there’s no set format you have to follow but basically a mark next to the students name will suffice, one mark for participation in lessons and another for homework posted, no lettered grade is required at this stage.

Teachers should create a homework thread on their boards for each class they teach (only when the date for homework arises, check the calendar) The students will then post themselves RPing doing homework beneath that and the teachers can check to see who's completed the task and who hasn't.

In the last week of term, instead of posting a class Teachers must post a thread called ‘Exam’ in which the students will RP taking their exams for that class.

At the end of each semester there will be a date (check the calendar for specifics) on which teachers are required to edit their ‘Grades’ thread with the students final marks for the semester. It is entirely up to the teachers discretion on what grades they decide to give the students, but it is advised that their attendance (and amount of enthusiasm towards role play) and homework posts be taken into account. When grading new students that have joined the course half way through simply use the lessons that they’ve attended and the work they’ve submitted, don’t take into account the lessons they weren’t around for.

The grading system used is the one from the Harry Potter books, going from:

O - Outstanding E – Exceeds Expectations A – Acceptable

…at a passing level, to:

P - Poor D - Dreadful T – Troll

... at a failing level.
