Quidditch!

GENERAL INFORMATION
Here are the new set of rules that we’re going to use for the Quidditch matches from now on. They’re not entirely different to what you’re all used to playing with so hopefully everyone’ll be able to understand them just fine.
To start with, each of the three semesters (Autumn, Spring and Summer) will have it’s own Quidditch tournament with six matches taking place over three weeks. Each match will start on a Monday and you can find them clearly displayed on the EH calendar over on the boards. At the end of the semester the scores will be calculated and the winning house will receive a trophy that will be placed in the trophy room in the castle and presented to the winners in a special ceremony on the last day of term (again, check the calendar for specific times) There will also be a prize for the best Chaser, best Beater, best Keeper and best Seeker which will take the form of 10 house points and 5 Galleons.
GETTING A PLACE
To secure a place on your house team all you have to do is come to the Quidditch tryouts (check the boards calendar for exact dates) The Referee will then pick team members at random from all the people who show up. First years are eligible to play. Being part of a Quidditch team is fun but it's also hard work, you'll be required to post in all the games so make sure you're up to the challenge before you apply.
REQUIREMENTS
You can only take part in Quidditch if you have a BROOM in your vault.
TEAMS
Each team will be required to have AT LEAST: one keeper, one chaser, one beater and one seeker in order to play the game properly. I think we’ve got enough people for there to not be a problem there but in the event of a house not having, say, three chasers, they can easily play with just two or even one.
POSITION RULES
Each team member will have a different job in the team. The game will be played out as an RP on the boards which will be posted by the Referee (who will be controlled by Loki or Holly)
For detailed information on each players role in the game see below:
Referee: The Referee is in charge of any dice rolls that have to be played out for the teams. You can be guaranteed that this will be carried out fairly and there will be no bias between the four houses. Whatever dice roll is posted will be the one that was rolled.
The Referee may also stop the game at any time to further explain rules if they feel that a player has misunderstood.
Chaser: The Chasers (or Chaser) will collectively have FIVE shots (per team) at the goal. They may RP that they have a shot at any time during the match (if there is more than one Chaser agree beforehand who will take how many shots, divide them up amongst you) After the Chaser has posted that they have a shot at goal the Referee will roll two dice, one for the opposing teams Keeper and one for the Chaser. Whoever scores the highest will be the winner (if the Chaser wins then they score the goal, if the Keeper wins then they save the shot) Either way, the Referee will then PM the Keeper and inform them of whether or not to save the shot.
Every goal scored is worth 10 points.
Keeper: See Chaser
Beater: The Beaters (or Beater) will collectively have FIVE shots (per team) at hitting a bludger at another player. They may RP that they have a shot at any time during the match (if there is more than one Beater agree beforehand who will take how many shots, divide them up between you) After the Beater has posted that they have a shot at hitting a bludger the Referee will roll two dice, one for the both Beaters (opposing side and the one that tried the hit). Whoever scores the highest will be the winner (if the Beater who tried the hit wins then the bludger successfully hits and the Seeker or Chaser of the opposing team (whoever has more shots) will have one shot deducted from them, if the opposing Beater wins then they manage to deflect the bludger and no harm comes to their team) Either way, the Referee will then PM the opposing Beater and inform them of whether or not to deflect the bludger.
Seeker: The Seeker will have FIVE attempts at catching the snitch. They may begin to RP their attempts only after each sides Chasers have used up THREE of their shots at goal. After the Seeker has posted that they have an attempt to catch the Snitch the Referee will roll a dice on their behalf. If the dice roll is anything except a six then the Seeker doesn’t catch the snitch and the game continues. If the dice roll is a six then the Seeker successfully captures the snitch and the game ends. Either way the Referee will PM the Seeker with whether or not to capture the snitch. If neither Seeker captures the snitch after their FIVE shots have been used up the Referee will throw two dice on behalf of each Seeker and the Seeker with the highest score will be PM’d and told to catch the snitch thus ending the game.
The snitch is worth 20 points.
WINNER
The winner is the team that has the most points at the end of the game. The games will be continued from the day they begin until either A: they are completed when the Seeker of either team catches the snitch, or B: the term ends and there is still no winner (an unlikely event). In this case a dice throw will determine which Seeker catches the snitch to complete the game and the points of the match will be tallied up. The winning team of each match will receive 5 house points.
The score of each match will be posted up on a score sheet on the Quidditch board along with the names of the players who scored the goals. There will probably be a feature article in the Snitch News about the games.
