1. You may not give your character super-human powers. This means you cannot be an Animagus, talk to animals, read minds, or anything else of the sort. If you would like to have some sort of special power, feel free to e-mail us about it, and ask. If you post with a special ability on the boards without first having approval to do so you will be warned about it once and house points will be taken off. If you fail to comply after warning, there can be possible suspension or deletion.
2. You may not post any obcenities. This is a PG-13 site, so mild swearing is permitted, but this does not allow you to be rude to any person. Again, you will be warned about your behavior and house points will be taken off. If you fail to comply after warning, there can be possible suspension or deletion.
3. You may not act irresponsibly in the chatroom. This could include being rude, spamming (typing the same thing over and over), or anything else deemed by the Headmistress to be inappropriate. You will be warned about it once and house points will be taken off. If you fail to comply after warning, there can be possible suspension or deletion.
4. You may not register more than two accounts on the forum, unless given permission from the Headmistress. If you register more than two without permission, there can be possible suspension or deletion.
5. You must post at least once in your first term! If there is a legit reason why you are not able to post or do not want to be part of the site, e-mail us. If you don't post, your character will be deleted!
6. You may not use improper role-playing formats. If you are posting incorrectly, you will be informed of how to change. Also, no God-Posting is allowed, meaning you cannot control someone else's character. If you continue to RP with your own methods, you will lose points and/or be suspended.
7. No one can strictly post an OOC post in an RP thread. That means no ranting or any of that. It takes away from the flow of the RP. If there is a problem, PM whoever needs to be PMed. If it's something general, please PM the mods or Admins or Headmistress. Failure to comply will result in taking away of points and warning.
8. No being Mary-Sues!
A Mary Sue or Gary Stu is:
n.1
A negative reference to a female character or male character commonly used by beginning writers in their Role-Plays.
She/He is unusually perfect and more advanced, Also because she/he is more superior than the other characters in the work, she/he mainly becomes the focus of the fan-fiction, thus ruining whatever the Role-Play was about.
As stated above, the name of the character referred to as the "Mary-Sue" or "Gary Stu" does not matter.
n.2
A person who acts smug or superior to a friend or comrade. (Definitions courtesy of urbandictionary.com)
Now, this rule does have an exception. For example, if you start an RP and the plot involves you specifically, then you're not being a Mary-Sue/Gary-Stu. Otherwise, you cannot be the center of attention in the RP or hijack an RP that involves a group of people. The reason for this rule is that this often tends to exclude others and make one or two people the focus of RPs, creating hostility and bitterness. Something EH does not promote. Failure to comply will result in a warning. After warning, possible suspension and/or deletion.

How to RP:
For organization, and for an all around more orderly feel, we are going to be enforcing this format for how to properly RP. The following is an example of what we would like to see in roleplayed posts.
Stephanie strides into the Great Hall, a look of stormy anger on her face. After pausing to glance about the room she finds who she is looking for, and walks towards her impatiently.
"Where were you this morning?"
Notice that the description of your character's action in typed as normal, while what the character speaks is written in quotations. If you wish to post something that is out of character, feel free to do so, using double parenthesis (( )) to enclose your OCC statement.

How to post an Application:
There are certain application rules when posting one. They can be found here. Following these will make it easier for the Headmistress to read and will up your chances of acceptance.
There are three different Applications. One for students, one for teachers and one for other characters. You pick depending on what type of character you want to be. The application links can be found here.
The Headmistress has three different responses after reading the application: 'Accepted', 'Not Accepted', and 'Pending'. The first two are obvious answers, however 'Pending' means that the Headmistress could not decide but you will most likely be accepted if you fix a few minor problems with the application. She will tell you on what basis so you may fix it and be accepted.
Please keep in mind that there are only 3 chances of posting your application. This is to ensure you try your best on the application and show that you are a competent poster and RPer. To ensure you have an idea of what the Headmistress is looking for in applications, you can look at an Application example here.
Good Luck!
